50th Anniversary March on Washington
On Saturday, August 24, 2013, TOPKATS Group (TKG) gathered with others at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC to stand together against the recent attack on voter rights, against Stand Your Ground and racial profiling, and to continue to raise awareness on unemployment, poverty, gun violence, immigration, gay rights and other critical issues affecting our nation. 50 years ago, when we marched on Washington it was an historic event that led to the passage of the very civil rights legislation that ended Jim Crow and began the modern era of civil rights. It brought us our dignity, our humanity and our march to realize the dream that so many had given their lives for. 50 years later we need you as much as we did in 1963. Today, the first African American President in the history of our nation sits in the White House. That would not have been possible without the 1965 Voting Rights Act. The Supreme Court in the final days of its term this year has struck down Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act and thereby have place our right to vote in jeopardy. We must turn out by the hundreds of thousands in Washington DC on August 24th, and we need your commitment to ensure our success. The Nation Action Network (www.nationalnetwork.net) held vigils in 100 cities across the nation for Trayvon Martin. These vigils were a huge success because of all of you. Now, it is critical that we harness this heightened awareness of our collective strength to sustain a movement.

2013 Mother of the Year (MOTY) DC
TOPKATS Group (TKG) partnered with the American Cancer Society (ACS) to honor Mrs. Tanya Snyder as the first “2013 Mother of the Year DC.” The award presentation was on Wednesday May 8, 2013 at the Ritz-Carlton, Washington DC. ACS also celebrated a milestone 100 years in 2013, as the official sponsor of birthdays.
Tanya Snyder is an extraordinary role model, “master juggler”, experienced business owner, dedicated advocate on breast cancer awareness, philanthropist, and of course, a passionate Washington Redskins fan. As the leader of the “team behind the team”, Mrs. Snyder is the driving force behind the Washington Redskins social and community activities, and she leads the players’ and coaches’ wives organization.
Those activities are an important part of her life but she considers her most important job to be her role as a mother to her children and a wife, advisor and companion to her husband.
Your sponsorship, donation, and or assistance will assist with supporting this meaningful tribute to her outstanding accomplishments and invaluable contributions to society, especially in cancer awareness and prevention. Your generosity will also directly benefit the TKG/ACS partnership that supports the life-saving and life-enhancing programs in cancer awareness, advocacy, and educational campaigns."
